No-obligation security assessment

Free Home Security Survey in Manchester

How secure is your home, really? Most people do not think about it until something goes wrong. A break-in, a near miss, or an insurance renewal that asks awkward questions about your locks. Our free home security survey gives you a clear, honest picture of where your property stands and what, if anything, you should consider upgrading.

We come to your home, check every external door and window, assess the quality and condition of your locks, and look for common vulnerabilities that burglars exploit. Then we sit down with you and explain what we have found. No jargon, no scare tactics, no pressure to buy. Just practical advice from people who repair break-in damage every week and know exactly how intruders get in. The whole survey takes about thirty to forty-five minutes and it costs you absolutely nothing.

What We Check During a Survey

We start with your front door, which is the main entry point for the majority of break-ins. We check the lock type and condition, whether it has anti-snap protection, how the cylinder sits in relation to the door furniture, and whether the multipoint mechanism is functioning properly. We also look at the door frame for signs of weakness, the hinge security, and whether the letterbox could be used to reach the lock from inside.

Next, we move to the back door and any side doors. Rear doors are actually targeted more often than front doors because they are less visible to neighbours and passers-by. We check the same elements plus any cat flaps, doggy doors, or glazed panels that could be exploited. French doors and patio doors get special attention because their locking systems have specific vulnerabilities that many homeowners are not aware of.

Windows are checked throughout the property, with ground-floor and easily accessible first-floor windows being the priority. We look at the locking mechanism type, whether windows have key-operated locks, the condition of the hinges, and whether restrictors are fitted where needed. We also check that all windows can be opened from inside as fire escape routes.

Finally, we look at the broader picture. External lighting, side gate security, visibility from the street, and any other factors that affect your property's vulnerability. We then talk you through our findings and, if any upgrades are needed, provide a written quote that you can take away and think about. There is genuinely no obligation and no hard sell. Many of our best customers came to us through a free survey and appreciated the honest approach.

Common Vulnerabilities We Find

These are the security gaps we spot most often during home surveys across Manchester.

Standard euro cylinders on external doors
This is the single biggest vulnerability we encounter. Standard euro cylinders can be snapped open in seconds using basic tools that anyone can buy. They are fitted as standard on most uPVC and composite doors, and millions of homes across the UK still have them. Upgrading to an anti-snap cylinder takes about fifteen minutes and transforms your door's resistance to forced entry. It is the best value security upgrade available.
Windows without key-operated locks
Older windows, particularly wooden casements, may have simple catches rather than proper locks. Even some uPVC windows have handles that can be operated without a key. Ground-floor windows without key-operated locks are an open invitation. We fit locking handles or window locks that meet insurance requirements and prevent the window being opened from outside even if the glass is broken.
Weak door frames around lock keeps
The strongest lock in the world is useless if the frame it bolts into is weak. We see many doors where the keeps are held in with short screws that only grip the uPVC frame liner or a thin piece of softwood. A single kick can split the frame and bypass the lock entirely. We fit reinforced keeps with long screws that anchor into the structural timber or masonry behind the frame.
Letterbox that allows lock access
Some door configurations allow an intruder to reach through the letterbox and operate the thumb turn on the inside of the lock, or hook a wire around the handle. We check the distance between your letterbox and your lock, and if it is within reach, we recommend fitting a letterbox guard or cowl on the inside. This is a simple, cheap fix that blocks a very real method of entry.
Patio door with a lift-off vulnerability
Some older sliding patio doors can be lifted off their tracks from outside, bypassing the lock entirely. Anti-lift devices prevent this by blocking the door from being raised high enough to clear the bottom track. We check whether your patio door is vulnerable and fit anti-lift blocks if needed. We also check the multi-point lock and the foot-operated shoot bolt at the bottom of the door.
